Widget views
Views counted per widget for this month, all time or any custom range, with the previous period alongside for context.
Views are vanity until they end in a sale. Socialgator tracks every widget view and every product click across your social commerce setup and pushes it all into Google Tag Manager so conversions land in GA4 next to the rest of your store data.

Widget views, product clicks and top performers, collected automatically from every embed.
Views counted per widget for this month, all time or any custom range, with the previous period alongside for context.
Every tap on a product tag, Buy Now button or CTA is tracked, so you know which videos drive shoppers to checkout.
A ranked leaderboard of your best-performing videos by views and clicks, thumbnails included.
See whether TikTok, YouTube or Instagram clips pull their weight on your store, per widget and per period.
Flip one switch per widget and Socialgator starts pushing its events into the GTM data layer you already run. Triggers, consent rules and GA4 tags stay yours.
| Event | Fired when |
|---|---|
sg_widget_viewAlso includes layout. | A widget renders on your storefront |
sg_story_openAlso includes video_id, video_caption. | A shopper opens the fullscreen story player |
sg_product_clickAlso includes product_id, product_name, price, currency, click_action. | A product tag or Buy Now button is tapped |
Every push also carries socialgator_widget and socialgator_widget_name, so multi-widget stores can segment home page from product page performance inside GTM. Prefer your own naming? Set a custom prefix per widget. shop_product_click works just as well.
dataLayer.push({
"event": "sg_product_click",
"socialgator_widget_name": "Homepage carousel",
"product_name": "Aurora Runner trainer",
"price": 89,
"currency": "GBP",
"click_action": "add_to_cart"
});Events flow through your container. Socialgator never loads GTM for you. Your consent management platform keeps governing every tag, and shoppers' browsers see no third-party scripts from us.
Daily view charts make it obvious when a video takes off and whether a placement change paid off.
Filter everything to a single widget to compare home page versus product page performance.
Widget events are first-party and anonymised. Embedded widgets set no tracking cookies of their own, so your customers stay untracked while your reporting stays useful.

Yes. Every Socialgator widget can push its events straight into your existing Google Tag Manager data layer. Just enable "Tag manager events" on the widget and choose your event prefix. Socialgator never loads GTM itself; your own container, triggers and consent platform stay in control.
Socialgator fires three events: sg_widget_view when a widget renders, sg_story_open when a shopper opens the fullscreen story player, and sg_product_click when a product tag or Buy Now button is tapped. Each push includes the widget name and ID, plus product name, price, currency and the video caption where relevant.
Yes, that is the most common setup. In GTM, create a GA4 event tag triggered by the custom event name (for example sg_product_click) and your shoppable-video conversions appear in GA4 alongside the rest of your store analytics.
Widget view and click events are first-party and anonymised. Embedded widgets set no tracking cookies of their own, and because events flow through your own tag manager container, your consent management platform keeps governing what happens next.
